Forest of the Dead

Forest of the Dead is a high-level hunting zone reached from the Town of Rune: a dark forest full of undead, skeletons and vampires that changes with the time of day. It is a zone for levels 85 to 87, and it is one of the two places where you collect the proofs for the daily quest Dynasty Supply Route, together with Stakato Nest.

The essentials, before the detail:

  • The monsters are level 85, 86 and 87, and the list changes between day and night.
  • Monsters of the same family pull each other up: see Pack Frenzy below.
  • At night the raid boss Eilhalder von Hellmann appears.
  • It is a dangerous zone: do not stay around at night unless you are ready for it.

From the Town of Rune, talk to Gatekeeper Ilyana, choose I want to teleport and open the Hunting Zone tab (Zona de caza). Forest of the Dead is listed with Lv 85 and a price of 34,200 Adena. Double-click it to go.

The zone has two populations: one that spawns by day and another by night. A few monsters are there all the time. Their level goes up with the monster’s rank.

87Behemoth Zombie, Bone Caster, Bone Puppeteer, Bone Scavenger, Vampire Warrior, Vampire Magister, Vampire WarlordGhost of Rebellion Leader, Vampire Soldier, Vampire Magician, Vampire Adept, Vampire Wizard, Vampire Magister, Vampire Warlord

Two monsters are there both day and night, so they are not in the table: Corrupted Guard (level 85) and Requiem Priest (level 87). The Corpse of Deadman lying around the zone is scenery: you cannot attack it and it gives nothing.

When monsters of the same family fight together in this zone, they buff each other: the more of them are engaged, the faster they run and the harder they hit and resist. The families here are the necro clan and the vampire clan. Only monsters that are already fighting count, and it applies to ordinary monsters: raid bosses never get it.

You see the buff as Pack Frenzy in the monster’s target panel. In practice: pulling a lot of monsters at once is risky, while solo and small-group fights are not affected.

The zone’s raid boss is Eilhalder von Hellmann, a level 86 raid boss. He appears only at night, and he comes with four minions: Violet, Kurstin, Mina and Dorian.

His drops:

  • Adena: always, between 300,000 and 600,000.
  • Scroll: Enchant Armor (S-grade) (1 to 3) and Scroll: Enchant Weapon (S-grade) (1), each with its own chance.
  • A small chance of an S-grade weapon (Forgotten Blade, Heaven’s Divider, Arcana Mace and the like).
  • A good chance of S-grade weapon parts, from one to three.
  • A chance of one Special Varnish (S80-grade): weapon, armor or accessory.

For the schedules of the other raid bosses, see Epic, RB, Priest Schedules.

The zone has a small settlement, the Cursed Village: it is where the raid boss lives and the only quiet corner of the forest.

By day you find three villagers there: Trader Violet, who sells supplies, and Kurstin and Mina, who have a word for you. They share their names with Eilhalder’s minions, but they are different characters. The village is not a safe place at night.

  • Adena from the ordinary monsters.
  • Crafting materials with Spoil: Stem, Varnish, Metallic Fiber, Durable Braid and Silver Nugget, among others.
  • Very rare pieces and recipes for Dynasty equipment, with a chance of a fraction of 1%.
  • Deathbound Ash: the quest item for Dynasty Supply Route. One drops per qualifying kill and goes to one member of the party.
