Stakato Nest

Stakato Nest is a high-level hunting zone reached from the Town of Rune: a hive of insects with their own habits, a chamber of cocoons and, deep inside, a queen. It is a zone for levels 85 to 87, and it is the second place where you collect the proofs for the daily quest Dynasty Supply Route, together with Forest of the Dead.

The essentials, before the detail:

  • The monsters are level 85, 86 and 87, and many of them react when you kill their partner.
  • The Bizarre Cocoons can be turned into a boss with a Growth Accelerator: the Cannibalistic Stakato Chief.
  • At the bottom of the nest lives the raid boss Queen Shyeed, level 88.
  • A teleporter inside, Kintaijin, takes your party between the main areas.

From the Town of Rune, talk to Gatekeeper Ilyana, choose I want to teleport and open the Hunting Zone tab (Zona de caza). Stakato Nest is listed with Lv 85 and a price of 34,200 Adena. Double-click it to go.

Near the entrance stands Bounty Hunter Kintaijin. He takes you and the party members who are near you to the main areas of the nest. Anyone who is not close when you talk to him stays behind, so gather the party first.

All the monsters of the nest belong to the spike clan and there is no day or night split: they are there all the time. Their level goes up with their rank.

LevelMonsters
85Spiked Stakato, Spiked Stakato Worker, Male Spiked Stakato, Spiked Stakato Sorcerer
86Cannibalistic Stakato Leader, Spiked Stakato Soldier, Spiked Stakato Drone, Spike Stakato Nurse, Spiked Stakato Shaman
87Spiked Stakato Guard, Male Spiked Stakato, Cannibalistic Stakato Leader, Spiked Stakato Captain, Spike Stakato Nurse

The level-87 versions of the Male, the Leader and the Nurse are the enraged ones you get from the tricks below.

  • Males and Females. If you kill a Male Spiked Stakato while its Female is alive, three Spiked Stakato Guards come for you. If you kill the Female first, the Male gets enraged instead.
  • Nurses and Babies. The same with the Spike Stakato Nurse: if you kill her while her Baby is alive, three Spiked Stakato Captains come for you. If the Baby dies first, the Nurse gets enraged.
  • Cannibalistic Stakato Leader. Below 30% health, it can devour one of its followers on a hit and recover health from it.
  • Monsters called by these tricks leave on their own if nobody fights them for a while.

Killing the right one first is the whole trick: take down the Female or the Baby before their partner.

Like in Forest of the Dead, monsters of the same family that fight together buff each other: at 10, 15 and 20 engaged monsters of the spike clan within range they get faster and hit and resist harder. Pulling too many at once is risky.

In the cocoon chambers there are Bizarre Cocoons. They do not move and cannot be hurt, but they can be grown with a Growth Accelerator.

Chamber of Bizarre Cocoons in the Stakato Nest
A chamber of Bizarre Cocoons.
  1. Get a Growth Accelerator: it has a small chance of dropping from Cannibalistic Stakato Leaders and Spike Stakato Nurses.
  2. Use it on a Bizarre Cocoon. There is a small chance (about 8%) that nothing happens.
  3. Otherwise the cocoon breaks without giving anything and the Cannibalistic Stakato Chief (level 87) appears where the cocoon was, aggressive towards you. It leaves after 30 minutes if nobody fights it.
  4. The cocoon comes back after a while.

The Chief gives Stakato Cocoons to everyone in the party who is near when it dies. They are extractable items: opening one gives Sealed Vorpal armor pieces, with the Large Stakato Cocoon (20% of the time) giving better chances than the Small one. Recipes for the sealed pieces are possible as well, but rare.

It also drops adena and, with some chance, sealed gear pieces, parts and a Special Varnish (S80-grade).

At the bottom of the nest lives the raid boss Queen Shyeed, level 88. She changes the whole nest.

  • While she is alive, the monsters of the nest carry Shyeed’s Fury: a boost of around 5% to their attack and speed.
  • When she dies, the hunters inside the nest receive Full Authority: a similar boost of around 5% to their abilities.

Her drops:

  • Adena: always, between 600,000 and 1,200,000.
  • Scroll: Enchant Armor (S-grade) (2 to 5, always) and Scroll: Enchant Weapon (S-grade) (1, half of the time).
  • A chance of a Blessed enchant scroll for armor or for weapon (S-grade).
  • A chance of a rare S-grade piece, for instance the Draconic Bow.
  • A good chance of sealed parts, from one to three, and a chance of a Special Varnish (S80-grade).

For the schedules of the other raid bosses, see Epic, RB, Priest Schedules.

  • Adena from the ordinary monsters.
  • Very rare drops of Special Varnish (S80-grade) and of Dynasty pieces and recipes.
  • Tempered Stakato Chitin: the quest item for Dynasty Supply Route. One drops per qualifying kill and goes to one member of the party. Cocoons and the Chief do not count for the quest.
