S-Grade Armor and Weapons

There is an upgrade system that turns grade A weapons, armor and jewels into grade S ones. The NPC is Ferris, the Aden Blacksmith: talk to him and pick the Learn about upgrade of items option.

Then you go into Upgrade Common Items (S/S80-grade).

The Equipment Upgrade window opens with the items you can upgrade. Each one has its own Upgrade button.

There you see everything before confirming: the materials it asks for, the success chance and what you are left with on a failure. The Qty column shows how much of each material you have, so one glance tells you whether it is enough: what you are missing shows up in red.

When the target item has both a single and a dual version, you pick which one with the two buttons below the result. The dual version asks for one more weapon among the materials — in the screenshot that is the Dark Legion’s Edge, shown in red because it is missing.

The upgrade is irreversible: once confirmed there is no going back.

The Varnishes

Each type of upgrade asks for its own Varnish, and they cannot be swapped around.

New bonuses on the S sets

Draconic. P. Atk. and Atk. Spd. were raised by a further 4%. It also gained 30% Resist Stun and Sleep.

Imperial Crusader. Given Stun Resist 50% and Speed +5.

Major Arcana. Casting Spd. 7% added.

Other adjustments for reaching grade S

Note

We cut the amount of Gemstone S needed to insert and remove runes from weapons, and the amount of Cloth Piece too. It is tuned so that reaching S weapons, armor and jewels is actually possible within the chronicle.
